Below please find our camp program for the upcoming months. We are very excited to be offering some old favourites as well as new programs which we hope will become favourites as well.
-
MW1: June 6-8: Electricity and Magnetism (Ages 6-11) Electricity and magnetism are the most magical forces in the world around us, but at the same time have the most practical applications. Explore the science behind the magic as you reveal the properties of electricity and magnetism through experiments. Next, discover how to harness them as you investigate simple circuits, and build working machines and toys.(This camp runs 3 days. Tution is $230.00)
- Session I: June 11-15: Robotics and Intro to Programming (Ages 7-11). Imagine what a simple robot could do for you, then design and build it! Using a mixture of Lego robotics, sime programming and simple electronics, you will learn about motors, gears, pulleys, experiment with sensors and learn to think like a computer as you create different robots to complete simple tasks.(Tution is $395.00)
- Session II: June 19th - June 22nd: Art and Science (Ages 5-11): Leonardo Da Vinci was both a great scientist and artist. However today science and art are very separate and many believe that science is analytical while art is creative. We believe that both scientists and artists try to explain the world we live in and that their two worlds intersect all the time. From the chemistry and physics of colors to how our brains works, join us as we connect the dots and bridge the gap.(No camp 6/18- tuition is $280.00)
- Session III June 25th - June 29th: All about H2O (Ages 5-11).Water is everywhere, in and around us, affecting everything that we do. We tend to take it for granted, but there are many things to learn about it. Where does it come from, and where does it go? How does it float an oil tanker? What does it do to light? Which materials are waterproof? Explore physical and chemical properties of water, engineer with buoyancy and hydraulic pressure, and learn about water in our environment in this varied session
- Session IV: July 2 - July 6th: Fun with Chemistry (Ages 6-11). Which is denser, slime or goo? What do you have to mix together to get an explosion? Can you grow crystals? What is really in your cereal? How do you make solids disappear? Chemistry is about what happens to stuff when you do things to it and it is a blast! Sign up to join in the fun. PLEASE NOTE - NO CAMP 7/4 - tuition $280.00
- Session V: July 9-13: Cars Cars Cars (Ages 6-11). Little captures America's imagination like its cars. In this class we build simple vehicles to explore their structures and critical design elements and understand what makes them move, turn and stop (or not). Its a perfect camp for the budding engineer to get a feel for the basics.
- Session VI: July 16-20:MythBuster Science (Ages 6-11). Strange but true, or pure fabrication? Old wives' tale or testable hypothesis? We will learn how to conduct our own investigations to separate fact from fiction on a wide variety of topics while we learn some chemistry, engineering and physics.
- Session VII: July 23-27: Inventions that Changed the World (Ages 6-11). Many great inventions are the product of hours of work and inquiry. Some great discoveries were made by accident. Join us as we examine the impact of the wheel, the printing press, light-bulbs, radios and many more and learn the histories of the men and women who changed our lives.
- Session VIII: July 30- August 3rd: LEGO Mindstorms Programming Basics - (Ages 8-12) - In this week long camp, students build and program robots to accomplish a series of simple tasks. Learn some basic programming concepts; experiment with sensors that detect sound, light, and touch and discover what you can make your robots do. Tons of exciting challenges and fun await you.(Tuition is $425.00)
- Session IX: Aug 13-Aug 17: Bottle Science (Ages 6-11). In this activity-packed session we will use recycled plastic and glass bottles in a myriad of scientific experiments. From picking up a bottle without touching it, to creating tornadoes, testing lung power, making bottle flowerpots and creating small eco-systems, come and see what you can do with these easy to find recyclables.
- Session X: Aug 20-24: Fun with Physics (Ages 5-11) Physics is crucial in understanding the world we live in, the world beyond us and the world inside us. Join us for a weeklong journey of understanding basic facts as you work on cars, catapults, electronics, pin ball machines and many more.
- Session XI: August 27-31: More inventions that changed the World. (Ages 6-11) They are so much a part of everyday existence it is hard to imagine life without them. What stroke of genius or chance led to the discovery of some of these world-changing tools? What did people do before they were invented? We will look at the development and impact of such inventions as the telegraph, vaccines, X-rays, motors to name just a few.
