FALL 2017: Science & Maker One Day Workshops

All workshops  are offered are our main office.

  • scienceSeeds Main is located at 29 Emmons Drive Suite G-10 (off of Rte 1 near Whole Foods)

FALL Workshop Hours:

  • Our full day 6-14 year old STEAM & Maker programs run from 9:00am-3:30pm unless otherwise noted
  • Our 4-6 year old STEAM & Maker programs  run from 9:00am -12:00pm.
  • For our 6-14 year old program we offer extended care (early drop-off 8:00am/late pickup 5:30pm) for an additional fee
  • For our 4-6 year old program we offer extended care (early drop-off 8:00am/late pickup 1:00pm) for an additional fee.
  • You can sign up for extended care during camp registration. All last minute extended care registration are subject to availability

Making Automata: Discovering Simple Machines (Ages 6-14)

Wooden/Cardboard Automata are a great and creative way to explore simple mechanical elements such as cams, levers, and linkages, while creating a moving sculpture. Join us as you discover simple physics and bring out your artistic side too. Each participant will create his/her own automata to take home.

Robotics for Curious Minds (Ages 6-14)

Come explore the amazing world of robotics. In this exciting class you will learn the basics of robotics and programming through hands-on experimentation! Depending upon the age range of participants, we will use MBots, Lego-WeDos, and/or LittleBits to tinker, explore, and learn. Students will learn basic programming skills then apply their knowledge to make things roll, turn, light up, and make music. A series of exciting and fun challenges awaits you!

Exploring Natural Disasters (Ages 6-14)

Hardly a week goes by where we don't hear on the news about a devastating natural disaster somewhere in the world. Whether it's powerful hurricanes in the South, earthquakes in California, or volcanic eruptions in Hawaii, we have a lot to learn about natural disasters. During this one day workshop,  through awesome experiments and with amazing take home projects - you will discover what it's like to be the meteorologists and geologists who study these fascinating natural disasters!

If you were caught in a natural disaster, a flood, earthquake what tools would you need in order to survive? How would you design structures to survive the crushing pressure of water, the tremors of earthquakes? How do you plan for rising sea levels?  What do you do if you are flooded?  What happens during an epidemic? What tools do you need to overcome long term power outages? Join us for a day of fun hands-on challenges and projects that explore survival tips and tricks.

Projects will depend on the age of the participants.
